President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced an investment of up to $500 billion into building infrastructure for artificial intelligence development during his second administration.

The project, called Stargate, includes the involvement of OpenAI, Softbank, and Oracle. The investment of up to $500 billion is focusing on projects related to developing AI and is aiming to create over 100,000 U.S. jobs, The Hill reported.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, and Oracle Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison joined Trump at the White House for the announcement.

Trump said Stargate is the “greatest AI infrastructure project by far in history.”

“It will ensure the future of technology. What we want to do, we want to keep it in this country—China’s a competitor, others are a competitor,” he added.

The president also said that the construction of data centers will employ “a lot of people,” and campuses are “currently being scouted nationwide.”

Data centers for Oracle are already under construction in Texas, Ellison later said.

“This is the beginning of the golden age,” Masayoshi said, referencing Trump’s phrase from his inaugural address.

“This is not just for business, this will help people’s life. This will help solving many, many issues… with the power of AI,” the SoftBank CEO added.

Altman said he is “thrilled we get to do this in the United States of America,” and that he believes the companies couldn't do this without Trump.

“The fact that we get to do this in the United States is, I think, wonderful,” he added.
