Consumer confidence low in April, latest index shows

U.S. consumer sentiment dropped from March to April over economic uncertainty surrounding President Trump's tariff actions, according to the University of Michigan's Surveys of Consumers.

The university's Consumer Sentiment Index on Friday came in at 52.2 for April.

The index is up slightly from 50.8 two weeks prior but it is down from 57.0 in March, according to Reuters.
