China has quietly exempted some semiconductors from tariffs that are made in the United States, amid the ongoing trade war between the two countries. 

A Chinese financial media outlet reported on Friday that at least eight classifications of microchips made in the U.S. have decreased to zero, instead of the 125% retaliatory tariff rate Beijing proposed on other U.S. goods.

Sources told The Washington Post that certain semiconductors will be exempt from tariffs.

President Donald Trump said the U.S. is having discussions with China about a tariff deal. Beijing has denied these claims.

Earlier this month, Trump announced a slew of tariffs on multiple countries, except China. 

He enacted a 90-day pause on the tariffs for countries willing to negotiate. He kept the tariffs on goods from China.
