National Weather Service issues warning for damaging winds in Los Angeles
Local media reports that these winds could create "dangerous" fire weather conditions that could last all week.
The National Weather Service has issued another high wind warning for the Los Angeles County area, where earlier this month powerful winds fueled several wildfires in which 27 people died and over 1,200 structures were destroyed.
The warning, officially titled a Particularly Dangerous Situation, issued over the weekend is specifically for the city of Santa Ana.
"Take action now to prepare your home and loved ones for another round of EXTREME WIND and FIRE WEATHER, starting tomorrow afternoon! Worst winds Mon afternoon - Tue morning," the National Weather Service of Los Angeles wrote on the social media platform, X.
The wind gusts could be as high as 80 mph and impact the eastern Ventura County mountains, which are essentially north of L.A. County, according to CBS News.
The winds are expected to last
Marina Jurica, a meteorologist for local TV station KCAL-9 on Monday forecasts the winds will slightly decrease by midweek.
"We still are going to see gusty winds," she said. "They just won't be as strong as they will be for the next 48 hours."
