A new wildfire in Los Angeles County is burning out of control, with the same, powerful Santa Ana winds fanning it and forcing officials on Wednesday to again call for mandatory evacuations.

The evacuations were ordered for the Los Angeles County community of Castaic, following the start of the new blaze, the Hughes Fire.

“That one’s gonna go nuclear. It’s big,” Jacob Weigler, Wildfire Coordinator for Central Pierce County, Washington, who has been in contact with colleagues near the scene told the New York Post. “You know what the fuels are capable of doing in that area right now, and what the wind does is going to be a big deal for this.”

Firefighters in San Diego County, south of Los Angeles, were already this week battling several smaller blazes, according to CBS News.

The National Weather Service has issued red-flag warnings for the Santa Ana winds through Thursday evening, with gusts of up to 65 mph expected.

At least 20 people and over 15,000 structures over 63 square acres have so far been destroyed in the fires, CBS also reports.
