Amazon, OnlyFans founder among those making last-minute bid to buy TikTok
President Donald Trump said before he got elected, that he would save TikTok.
Amazon, AppLovin and the founders of OnlyFans are among those reportedly making a last-minute attempt to purchase TikTok ahead of the Saturday deadline for the China-based app to either be sold or banned in the U.S.
The Amazon bid was reported Wednesday by The New York Times based on sources who said the parties involved in the conversations are not taking Amazon's bid seriously.
The mobile technology company AppLovin also made the bid, sources told The Wall Street Journal. Reuters is reporting the bid by OnlyFans, an adult-content social media website.
President Donald Trump is expected to consider a final proposal Wednesday regarding what will happen with TikTok, a White House official told the Reuters.
Trump has vowed to keep the app, popularized by its short-form dance videos, in the U.S., where it has about 7 million followers. Democratic and Republican lawmakers alike have expressed concern about TikTok's collection of user data and it being a national security concern.
