Trump announces deal with law firm connected to J6 House panel, Doug Emhoff
The deal includes an agreement with Willkie, Farr and Gallagher that the firm will provide at least $100 million in pro bono services during the second Trump administration for causes that the firm and the president both support.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced that his administration has reached a deal with a law firm that is tied to former second gentleman Doug Emhoff and the House Jan. 6 select committee.
The deal includes an agreement with Willkie, Farr and Gallagher that the firm will provide at least $100 million in pro bono services during the second Trump administration for causes that the firm and the president both support.
Among those causes, according to President Trump, are "Assisting Veterans and other Public Servants including, among others, members of the Military, Gold Star families, Law Enforcement, and First Responders; Ensuring fairness in our Justice System; and Combatting Antisemitism."
The law firm also agreed not to engage in hiring practices based on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) requirements, and committed to "Merit-Based Hiring, Promotion, and Retention."
“Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP proactively reached out to President Trump and his Administration, offering their decisive commitment to ending the Weaponization of the Justice System and the Legal Profession," the White House said. "The President is delivering on his promises of eradicating Partisan Lawfare in America, and restoring Liberty and Justice FOR ALL.”
The agreement comes as Trump looks to target law firms for their alleged ties to his political rivals. Trump has also targeted law firms like Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, Perkins Coie, and Covington & Burling, which is providing pro bono services to former special counsel Jack Smith.
