White House confirms fourth US soldier missing in Lithuania was found dead
Leavitt said that the White House was praying for the families of the soldiers.
The White House on Tuesday announced the body of a fourth U.S. soldier recently gone missing in Lithuania has been recovered.
The U.S. military on Monday confirmed the deaths of the other three soldiers, after their armored vehicle was apparently swallowed by a peat bog. The announcement followed several days of international confusion about whether the soldiers were missing or found dead. They were reportedly on a mission to repair and tow an immobilized tactical vehicle.
“Tragically, three soldiers were found deceased in Lithuania yesterday, and it pains me to confirm that today the fourth soldier was also found deceased,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Tuesday
The identity of the soldiers has yet to be made public.
