Vance says Trump wants productive Ukraine, Russia negotiation but 'military tools' an 'option'
Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are expected to meet with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday in Munich to discuss the ongoing war.
Vice President JD Vance says President Trump wants productive negotiation between Russia and Ukraine in a deal to ensure Ukraine's long-term independence, but if Russia refuses to agree to a deal it could face more sanctions and even "military tools."
"There are economic tools of leverage, there are of course military tools of leverage," Vance told The Wall Street Journal before heading to an international security conference in Munich.

Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, resulting in an ongoing war for three years. The U.S. has been financially supporting Ukraine amid the conflict.
Trump said earlier this week that he had a productive phone call with Russia President Vladimir Putin who wants to end the war.
