Trudeau claps back at Trump after Canada beats US in international hockey tournament
Canada defeated the U.S. 3-2 in overtime to win the game held in Boston, Massachusetts.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday night responded to President Donald Trump's dig before their respective country's international hockey game with one of his own.
"You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game," Trudeau wrote on X after Team Canada scored a 3-2 overtime win over Team USA in the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off final, in Boston.
Trump has said since taking office that he wants to annex Canada and has impose stiff, new tariffs on the country.
Before the Thursday night game, Trump took a shot at Trudeau while wishing the U.S. team good luck.
He posted on TRUTH Social that Canada will "someday, maybe soon, become our cherished, and very important, Fifty First State."
He also in the post called the prime minister "Governor Trudeau."
