The Canadian province of Ontario announced Monday that it would end its $100 million contract with Elon Musk's Starlink service in response to the tariffs from the Trump administration.

This deal was agreed to in November of last year and was intended to connect 15,000 homes to the internet in remote parts of Canada, according to The Financial Times outlet.

Musk contributed nearly $140 million toward Trump's winning 2024 presidential campaign and is now running the administration's Department of Government Efficiency.

“Maybe Elon Musk can call his buddy," Ontario premier Doug Ford said during an event. "He is part of the Trump team."

He said that Ontario would be "ripping up" its contract with Starlink and said that Trump is to blame, according to The Associated Press.

The White House announced on Saturday that Trump would impose 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports and 10% on Chinese imports.

Canada responded by imposing retaliatory tariffs on the U.S.

Trump said he would be speaking with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at 3 p.m. EST on Monday regarding the situation.

Trump earlier Monday struck a deal with Mexico to pause the tariffs for a month.
