South Korean court removes impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol
The court determined that Yoon violated the country's “constitutional order," and that he violated his duty as commander-in-chief when he sent troops to the National Assembly in December.
South Korea's Constitutional Court late Thursday night unanimously ruled to remove the country's impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol from office.
The country's president was impeached late last year after he declared martial law in December.
The court's Acting Chief Justice Moon Hyungbae read the ruling aloud, which determined that Yoon violated the country's “constitutional order," and that he violated his duty as commander-in-chief when he sent troops to the National Assembly in December, according to the New York Times.
The president's People Power Party announced that it "humbly" accepts the court's order.
