San Francisco issues $4,500 fine over Elon Musk’s flashing ‘X’ sign

The giant flashing X sign Elon Musk installed on the roof of the former Twitter headquarters incited a fine from the city of San Francisco on Monday. The San Francisco Department of Building Inspection issued $4,447 in fines to the building’s landlord and ordered the steel structure be removed. The city lodged 24 complaints from local residents about the sign that included concerns about its structural safety and “massive nighttime nuisance.”
