Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy slammed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday in a viral exchange on social media, claiming that she was "lashing out because DOGE is uncovering your family’s obscene grifting."

Duffy, who experienced two major plane crashes since taking office, announced Wednesday that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was helping the department upgrade its aviation system, prompting backlash from Clinton.

Clinton claimed that the Transportation Department "deteriorated" on Duffy's watch, and that the young employees at Elon Musk's DOGE did not have the "relevant experience" to fix the issues in the department's aviation system.

"Most of them aren't old enough to rent a car. And you're going to let them mess with airline safety that's already deteriorated on your watch?" She questioned in a Wednesday post on X.

Duffy responded that it was actually the "experienced Washington bureaucrats" that were behind the problems in the federal government, and why the "nation’s infrastructure is crumbling."

"You need to sit this one out," he added.

Clinton highlighted that before Duffy's tenure, there had not been a major fatal airline crash, like the one that killed 67 people last week, in 16 years. But Clinton failed to mention other safety issues that encompassed former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg's tenure, such as Boeing's repeated incidents.

Duffy responded that Clinton was lashing out because DOGE allegedly discovered that her family was "grifting" through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and accused her of distorting facts.

"I know you’re lashing out because DOGE is uncovering your family’s obscene grifting via USAID, but I won’t let you lie and distort facts," he wrote in a Thursday post. "I’m returning this department to its mission of safety by using innovative technology in transportation and infrastructure.

"Your team had its chance and failed. We’re moving on without you because the American people want us to make America’s transportation system great again. And yes, we’re bringing the 22-year-olds with us."
