Social media erupts after Trump doesn't put hand on Bible during oath of office

President Donald Trump neglected to place his hand on the Bible while taking the oath of office on Monday, causing social media to erupt with theories about the move.
Trump's inauguration committee announced that Trump would use his own Bible, which he received from his mother in 1955, and the Lincoln Bible during the swearing-in.
Photos clearly showed Trump with his right hand raised and left hand lowered while first lady Melania Trump held up both books.
The incident appears to be an accident as video footage showed Melania walk closer to the president during the oath, which Chief Justice John Roberts began before she elevated the book to Trump's gaze. He did not appear to notice.
Some conservatives appeared to blame Roberts.
"Chief Justice Roberts rushing the oath before Melania got to President Trump without his hand on the Bible is absolutely disgraceful.
Shame on Roberts," wrote one X user.
"No offense but the guy who swore Trump In didn’t even give his family the chance to walk in and didn’t tell Trump to put his hand on the Bible. He just started swearing him in before Melanie could walk over. Totally rushed," another posted.
Others simply highlighted the error.
"Why isn’t Trump’s hand on the Bible?" wrote a prominent Christian account.
