The majority of small business owners support the Department of Government Efficiency reducing federal spending by $2 trillion to help balance the federal budget, according to a recent poll.

The Job Creators Network Foundation poll showed 60% of respondents support the reduction and over 60% are optimistic that President Donald Trump and his new administration will help their community. 

Another majority of the respondents also believe the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act should be extended.

If the tax cuts are not extended then a third of small business owners said they would consider delaying or reducing expansions, 19% would lay off some employees, and 16% would reduce employee hours, according to the poll.

“The small business community is excited about the Trump administration but understands executive actions alone do not create lasting policy changes," foundation President Elaine Parker said. 

The poll also found that 77% of respondents said they would support Congress lowering credit card “swipe fees” in exchange for free market competition.

The survey polled 400 small business owners between January 7-27.  It was conducted online, has a plus or minus 4.9% margin of error.
