Nearly 60% of Americans think US is friendlier to immigrants than most other countries: poll
When it comes to legal and illegal immigration, 68% of Americans think legal immigration is good for the country, but illegal immigration is bad.
A new Napolitan Institute poll shows 58% of registered voters think the U.S. is friendlier to immigrants than most other countries.
On the question of legal and illegal immigration, 68% of the respondents said legal immigration is good for the country but illegal immigration is not.
The consequences of Illegal immigration has been a major concern among U.S. voters for roughly a decade.
President Trump was elected to his first term in 2016 on the issue and was reelected last year, in large part, on the issue, following record migration into the U.S. during the previous Biden administration. Trump has made mass deportation of illegal migrants an early administration priority.
The poll found 29% of voters think Trump's deportation efforts have gone too far and 31% say they haven't gone far enough.
Department of Homeland Security officials say Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested over 32,000 illegal migrants in the first 50 days of Trump being in office.
The poll was conducted Monday among 1,000 registered voters and has a margin of sampling error of 3.1%.
