Bed Bath & Beyond executive's death was suicide, medical examiner rules
Gustavo Arnal died from "multiple" blunt force trauma in jump from "Jenga Building," after company sued for "pump and dump" scheme.
The Bed Bath & Beyond executive who fell to his death from the iconic "Jenga Building" in New York City committed suicide, the New York Medical Examiner's Office determined Monday.
Reuters reports that 52-year-old chief financial officer Gustavo Arnal died from "multiple" blunt force trauma. Law enforcement sources previously said he didn't leave a suicide note or tell his wife anything before the jump.
His death follows company announcements of 150 store closures and layoffs, as well as a lawsuit filed last month against Arnal and the company for an alleged "pump and dump" scheme in which the CFO sold his shares after artificially inflating the stock.
It forecast a 26% decline in same-store sales for the second quarter.
