Senior defense official calls Joe Biden claim about briefings 'patently false'

After Joe Biden said that the U.S. Department of Defense will not provide briefings "on many things," an unnamed senior defense official fired back.

"I see no evidence that it's under control," Biden said regarding a massive cyber breach. "Defense Department won't even brief us on many things. So I know of nothing that suggests it's under control."

President Trump had previously tweeted that the cyber issue "is well under control."

According to reports, a senior defense official characterized Biden's comment regarding the briefings as "patently false" and noted that during the time since the General Services Administration gave the green light for transition activities to take place, "the DOD has conducted 163 interviews and 181 requests for information, which greatly exceed what the Biden-Harris team originally requested."

"The department will continue to provide the information and meetings necessary to ensure the continuity of government. As we've said, meetings will begin again in early January, and in fact we've begun scheduling them," the official said.

Last week in a statement dated Dec. 18, Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller said, "After the mutually-agreed upon holiday pause, which begins tomorrow, we will continue with the transition and rescheduled meetings from today."

However, Yohannes Abraham with the Biden transition team pushed back, saying that no such agreement had been made.
