Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Friday said state Republican leaders are not buckling under the growing pressure from activists and corporations opposed to the state’s recent election reform law.

“I can tell you, we are not backing down,” Kemp told Tucker Carlson on Fox News when asked about the controversy.

Major corporations and institutions such as Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola and Delta Airlines have all signalled their opposition to the law. MLB announced this week that it was pulling its 2021 All-Star game out of Atlanta,  while Delta CEO Ed Bastian claimed the law “is unacceptable and does not match Delta’s values.”

Kemp told Tucker Carlson that state GOP leaders planned to stand firm against the outrage.

“The members of the Legislature that voted on this bill that were duly elected in November are not backing down,” he said.

“People are rising up because they're worried," he added, "you know, they're worried what sports are going to be next, you know, what events are going to be next, what business is going to be next."
