A Detroit Muslim leader was removed from a Kamala Harris rally and says a campaign organizer told him to leave without providing a reason.

“She took me to the door, and she closed it, and I found two police officers waiting there, and she said, ‘You have to leave right now,’” Ghanim told the Metro Times on Tuesday. “I asked why she was kicking me out. She wouldn’t answer. I was very calmly asking why I was being kicked out.”

Ghanim said his removal from the campaign event in Royal Oak on Monday doesn't sit well with Muslim Americans who viewed his social media posts about the situation.

“There are hundreds of Muslims who saw that, and they feel like they are unwelcome in this party, so why bother?” Ghanim said.

A Harris campaign spokesperson apologized for the incident and invited Ghanim to attend another event.

"Our campaign regrets this action and its impact on Dr. Ghanim and the community, and he is welcome at future events. We value our relationship with the Muslim American community," said Naomi Savin, deputy communications director for the Harris team in Michigan, according to a local Fox television affiliate.

Ghanim has been outspoken about his opposition to U.S. military aid to Israel for the war in Gaza.

He co-founded the Metro-Detroit Political Action Network following the inauguration of former President Donald Trump.

He lost a Democratic primary election in August to Michigan Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens, a strong supporter of Israel.
