Philippine president vows to 'fight' vice president's plot to assassinate him
"That criminal plot should not be allowed to pass," Marcos says. "I'll fight it."
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday vowed to fight Vice President Sara Duterte's alleged plot to have him assassinated.
"That criminal plot should not be allowed to pass," Marcos said without naming Duterte, according to the Associated Press. "I'll fight it."
Marcos also said that "as a democratic country, we need to uphold the rule of law."
On Saturday, Duterte said she has contracted an assassin to kill the president, his wife as well as the speaker of the House of Representatives if she gets killed.
Duterte later attempted to walk back her comments.
"Why would I kill him if not for revenge from the grave? There is no reason for me to kill him. What's the benefit for me?" Duterte said.
