SpaceX's Elon Musk promises millions for Cameron County schools and the city of Brownsville, Texas

Elon Musk, known for businesses like SpaceX and electric car company Tesla, tweeted on Tuesday that he plans to donate millions to a Texas city and to Cameron County schools in the Lone Star State.

"Am donating $20M to Cameron County schools & $10M to City of Brownsville for downtown revitalization. Details to follow next week," Musk tweeted on Tuesday.

The donation announcement came after SpaceX's most recent launch in the region had concluded in an explosion.

"Please consider moving to Starbase or greater Brownsville/South Padre area in Texas & encourage friends to do so!" Musk also tweeted on Tuesday. "SpaceX's hiring needs for engineers, technicians, builders & essential support personnel of all kinds are growing rapidly."
