The White House perimeter and Lafayette Square are closed to public access after the assassination attempt on former President Trump at his campaign rally in Butler, Pa. on Saturday.

The areas that the public can normally walk to view the White House close-up are blocked off as of Saturday evening prior to President Biden's early return to Washington from Rehoboth, Delaware.

Lafayette Square across from the White House is closed to the public with caution tape as well as gates with signs that said, "restricted area."

The closest the public can get to the White House is the sidewalk in front of Lafayette Square, which is far from the fence in front of the White House where tourists normally take photos
