Former first lady Michele Obama does not attend Carter state funeral
Mrs. Obama reportedly had a scheduling conflict and is in Hawaii.
Former first lady Michelle Obama did not attend former President Jimmy Carter’s state funeral Thursday at the Washington National Cathedral.
She has not provided an official explanation but reportedly had a scheduling conflict and is in Hawaii.
Her husband, Barack Obama, was among the four living presidents who attended the Carter funeral, with the other four being Bill Clinton, George Bush, Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. All of respective first ladies attended the state funeral.
The Obamas have a home about two mile away from the cathedral, in Washington, D.C.'s Kalorama neighborhood.
