"That bewildering decision was a major sign of trouble," Axelrod says

David Axelrod, a CNN contributor and former advisor to President Obama, knocked former President Biden for skipping the Super Bowl pregame show interview last year, noting that President Trump agreed to do the interview and decided to attend the game in-person on Sunday.

NBC News reported that Biden thought the general public was tired of the presidential campaign and wanted to focus on the game.

Biden skipped the Super Bowl interview opportunity in 2023 as well.

"A year ago, Biden refused the traditional Super Bowl interview and the unparalleled audience it would have yielded," Axelrod wrote Sunday on X. "That bewildering decision was a major sign of trouble. Trump is all over it today."

On Thursday, Trump criticized Biden for not doing the Super Bowl interview as well.
