President Trump’s approval rating for the first quarter of his second term is 45%, according to a recent Gallup survey.

The 45% figure represents an increase from the same time period in Trump's first term.

Trump's tariff actions have drawn criticism from top Democrats, while Republicans appear confident his plans will pay off.

About 90% of Republicans said they have a lot of confidence in Trump’s leadership on the economy, according to the results of the poll, compared to 37% of independents and 8% of Democrats.

Trump's 45% approval rating is higher than the first quarter of his first term but lower than other post-World War II presidents.

But other polls put Trump's approval much higher in his second term, including Scott Rasmussen's Napolitan News survey which had Trump hovering near 53% for most of the first quarter before it dropped to 49% on Friday.

The president crowed about his strong poll numbers in a social media post on Truth Social on Saturday. "TRUMP’S BEST POLL NUMBERS, EVER. THANK YOU!" he wrote.

According to Gallup data, the post-WWII presidents with the highest approval ratings during their first quarter in office were John F. Kennedy in 1961 with 74% and Dwight Eisenhower in 1953 with 71%.
