A GOP New Jersey state senator recommended Gov. Phil Murphy, D-N.J., impose a limited state of emergency that would ban drone usage in the state until law enforcement can determine the sources of the drones spotted around state recently.

State Sen. Jon Bramnick suggested in a statement on Tuesday that the ban should stay in place "until the public receives an explanation regarding these multiple sightings.”

The drone sightings are under investigation by state and federal law enforcement.

Murphy revealed on X last week that he had a meeting with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas as well as state police and the state's congressional delegation about the "reported drone activity over parts of North and Central New Jersey."

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., wrote on X on Tuesday that his team is continuing to monitor the situation.
