Two Fetterman staffers quit amid senator's inroads with Trump White House
The two men who are expected to leave Fetterman's office are his communications director Charlie Hills and his legislative director Tre Easton. Both have worked for the senator since his 2022 campaign.
Two of Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman's longest-serving aides are expected to leave his office soon, as the senator expresses a willingness to work with the new Trump administration.
Fetterman has been the strongest ally for the president across the aisle since Inauguration Day last month, even voting to confirm certain members of President Trump's Cabinet, such as Attorney General Pam Bondi and Environmental Protection Agency head Lee Zeldin.
The senator has also shifted toward the right when it comes to supporting Israel in its war with Hamas, and helped pass the Laken Riley Act, an immigration bill, last month.
The two men who are expected to leave Fetterman's office are his communications director Charlie Hills and his legislative director Tre Easton, according to NBC News. Both have worked with the senator since his 2022 campaign.
“Working for John afforded me the opportunity to build a diligent policy team from scratch,” Easton said. “Together we created a legislative body of work that I think is a blueprint for how Democrats should be governing when they have power. I’ll forever be grateful.”
The men did not disclose the reason for their departure, but it comes one month after former Fetterman communications director Carrie Adams left the office. Three other communications aides left his office last year, as did his chief of staff.
