Senate Democrats on Tuesday blocked the final vote to confirm President Donald Trump nominee for CIA director John Ratcliffe.

On Tuesday, they blocked a quick final vote for Ratcliffe – after the chamber's Intelligence Committee approving his nomination in a 14-3 vote – by forcing roll-call votes on procedural motions that are typically approved with a less formal voice-vote, according to Punchbowl News.

South Dakota GOP Sen. Mike Rounds says the move was payback for Senate Republicans doing it to Senate Democrats when they had the chamber majority.

 Senate Majority Leader John Thune says votes will go into the weekend if nominees don't start getting confirmed.

"As I’ve repeatedly said, Senate Republicans are ready to work as long as needed to confirm President Trump’s nominees. Nights. Weekends. Recesses," Thune wrote on the social media platform, X.
