Ukraine may sign minerals deal with US on Wednesday: reports
The U.S. and Ukraine have been trying to work out a deal where the U.S. can get access to mineral riches in Ukraine in exchange for funding the country during its war with Russia.
A long-awaited minerals deal between the U.S. and Ukraine could be signed as early as Wednesday, according to reports.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on television in Ukraine that the country’s economy minister, Yulia Svyrydenko, was going to Washington, D.C.
“We are finalizing the last details with our American colleagues," Shmyhal said. "As soon as all the final details have been finalized, I hope that the agreement will be signed in the near future, within the next 24 hours."
The natural resources deal between Ukraine and the U.S. could be signed as early as Wednesday, a source told CNN.
