Russian general killed in car bombing outside of Moscow, investigators report

A high-ranking Russian military officer was killed Friday in a car bombing outside of Moscow, according to the country's investigative committee.
The officer has been identified as Lt. Gen. Yaroslav Moskalik. The explosive was reportedly placed on Moskalik's car. The incident took place in the city of Balashikha, and no suspect has been publicly identified.
An Investigative Committee of Russia spokeswoman said the device had shrapnel in it. The one who perpetrated the explosion isn't known, according to Fox News.
The attack comes the same day as White House envoy Steve Witkoff's visit to Moscow to discuss a potential peace deal with President Vladimir Putin.
The bombing occurred outside an apartment building in Balashikha. The investigation is ongoing.
