While final details are still not set, Biden is likely to attend the funeral in Rome, reports CBS News, based on sources.
Former President Barack Obama's spokesperson said Obama would not be attending. President Donald Trump confirmed earlier this week he would be going to the funeral.
Biden had a good relationship with Francis going back to 2015 when he was vice president under Obama.
Francis died Monday from a cerebral stroke that led to a coma, then heart failure. He was 88 years old.
The funeral will be held in St. Peter's Square, Vatican City, Rome.
