Blue Origin delays launch of New Glenn rocket, cites 'subsystem' problem
The New Glenn rocket was going to launch before 1 a.m. from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Brevard County, Florida.
Officials at the Blue Origin Aerospace engineering company said Monday they were “standing down” on an attempt to launch the New Glenn rocket.
The New Glenn rocket was going to launch before 1 a.m. from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Brevard County, Florida.
However, countdown resets that went on until 3:10 a.m. resulted in it being delayed so the team could figure out some issues, according to local media.
"We’re standing down on today’s launch attempt to troubleshoot a vehicle subsystem issue that will take us beyond our launch window," Blue Origin wrote on the social media platform, X. "We’re reviewing opportunities for our next launch attempt."
The company said the main goal is to launch the rocket safely.
“This is our first flight and we’ve prepared rigorously for it,” Blue Origin Senior Vice President Jarrett Jones said in a statement. “But no amount of ground testing or mission simulations are a replacement for flying this rocket. It’s time to fly. No matter what happens, we’ll learn, refine, and apply that knowledge to our next launch.”
