Trump taps former Rep. Sean Duffy to lead Transportation Department
Duffy served in Congress from 2011-2019.
President-elect Donald Trump on Monday announced that he had selected former Rep. Sean Duffy, R-Wisc., to serve as his secretary of Transportation.
"Sean has been a tremendous and well-liked public servant, starting his career as a District Attorney for Ashland, Wisconsin, and later elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District," Trump said.
"He will prioritize Excellence, Competence, Competitiveness and Beauty when rebuilding America’s highways, tunnels, bridges and airports," Trump went on. "He will ensure our ports and dams serve our Economy without compromising our National Security, and he will make our skies safe again by eliminating DEI for pilots and air traffic controllers."
Duffy served in Congress from 2011-2019.
The post is currently occupied by former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who attracted scrutiny during his tenure over train derailments and large-scale flight cancellations and delays.
