Trump, Stefanik raise $3.2 million for GOP candidates at Mar-a-Lago fundraiser

Former President Donald Trump and New York Rep. Elise Stefanik (R), chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, raised a whopping $3.2 million for GOP candidates at a Mar-a-Lago fundraiser Tuesday night.

The event, for which attendees shelled out $1,000 a head to attend (some opting for the $25,000 per ticket package), was a successful effort to prepare the GOP for its fight to regain majorities in the House and the Senate in 2022.

Among those in attendance was Jane Timken, the former chairwoman of the Ohio Republican Party, who is now running in a crowded primary for the Senate seat that will be vacated by GOP Sen. Rob Portman at the end of his term.

Trump has yet to endorsed a candidate in the primary that also includes fervent Trump supporter Josh Mandel, and "Hillbilly Elegy" author and venture capitalist J.D. Vance. However, Stefanik endorsed Timken last week through her PAC that aims to place more Republican women in office.

The former president has proven himself to be a fundraising asset for current and aspiring Republican politicians.

Tuesday evening was one of a number of recent fundraising events in which Trump has participated, as the GOP hopes to continue bringing in record fundraising numbers ahead of the 2022 midterm cycle.

Regarding the success of Tuesday evening, Stefanik said she is "proud" to have raised such a significant sum "with President Trump for our shared effort to flip the House and save America. We are going to fire Pelosi and take back our country."

Trump also heaped praise upon the fourth-term House member, telling the crowd that Stefanik is one to watch. "Man is she moving fast," Trump said. "At this rate, she'll be president in about six years.

He added, "She goes to Washington as a young beautiful woman who took over, and all of a sudden she becomes a rocket ship. She’s the boss. She’s been a great boss, a strong boss."

In response to Trump's praise, and suggestion about the congresswoman's future White House aspirations, Senior Adviser to Stefanik, Alex Degrasse, told Just the News, "Congresswoman Stefanik is focused on securing results for the hardworking families of NY-21 and maintains historic support. She is running for Congress in New York’s North Country, where she has been continually elected by a landslide."
