Tim Walz says he would consider running for president in 2028
Walz said that if he felt he could offer something for the next presidential race he would consider running.
Democratic 2024 vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz says he would consider running for president in 2028.
“Look, I never had an ambition to be president or vice president," Walz said during a radio interview with The New Yorker Radio Hour. “If I feel I can serve, I will. And if nationally, people are like, ‘Dude we tried you, and look how that worked out,’ I’m good with that.”
He said that if he felt he could offer something for the next presidential race he would consider running.
Walz has already said he won't run for Senate to replace Democratic Sen. Tina Smith who is retiring, according to The New York Post.
When Walz was asked about the 2024 Democratic presidential loss with him and former Vice President Kamala Harris on the ticket, he said it was a loss he would "take to his grave."
If Walz gets re-elected as governor of, he would serve through 2031 and become the longest-serving chief executive in the history of Minnesota.
