Florida GOP Attorney General James Uthmeier said Thursday that his office had filed charges against Ryan Routh, the suspect in the second assassination attempt against President Donald Trump.

Uthmeier said that his office had a hard time prosecuting the case under the Biden administration and praised U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi for being "instrumental in preserving Florida's sovereign authority to do what is right and bring justice where it is due."

Routh faces a first-degree attempted murder charge as well as a terrorism charge, according to the news outlet Axios.

Routh allegedly hoped to shoot Trump while he was on his West Palm Beach golf course.
