Rollins of Pro-DeSantis PAC Ready for Ron says GOP just bashing Dems in new elections 'death knell'
"The country doesn't want another impeachment," Ed Rollins said.
One of the leaders of the "Ready for Ron" 2024 presidential PAC and former White House political director Ed Rollins says the GOP has to have a definite message in future elections and it cannot just be attacking Democrats.
"The country doesn't want another impeachment," Rollins said on the John Solomon Reports podcast. "It'll be our death knell. We won't get the kind of play that the Democrats got when they went after [President] Trump because the national media isn't in our camp."
Rollins also said the Republican Party needs to have a strong message going into future elections that energizes people to vote for them.
"You have to figure out what's bothering people," he said. "And what's bothering people out there are certainly immigration issues and high gas and food prices. You got to talk to people about those things and what the solutions are."
Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis is rumored to possibly run against former Trump in the 2024 GOP presidential primary.
The "Ready for Ron" PAC was recently started to get voters on the DeSantis 2024 train.
"He couldn't start a presidential campaign at the same time he was running for governor," Rollins explained. "Plus, he's tied down for about the next six months to almost three quarters of a year in the legislative session. He's got a whole bunch of things he's got to do in Florida before he can start the process of running for president."
The former White House political director said he would use the same strategy to win over voters like the GOP did during the Ronald Reagan campaign.
"What you've go to do is find your voters and you've got to cater to those voters," he said. "You got to communicate with those voters. The Reagan model that I used in 1984 was going out and registering six million new voters. We had hundreds of thousands of volunteers who wanted to get in the game."
