Former Georgia Rep. Doug Collins says that the GOP needs to get its act together and unite

Former Georgia Rep. Doug Collins says that the GOP needs to come together and when they take back the majority in the House next year. 

"I think we need to get it together and we need to get together soon," Collins said on Tuesday's edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. 

Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs recently announced that he would be running for House Speaker against current House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. At the moment it appears that McCarthy does not have the 218 votes needed to be elected Speaker. 

"McCarthy is the favorite because he does have the majority of the votes," Collins explained. "Andy Biggs is providing an alternative for some, and there are some who are not going to vote for him right now and that's a real problem. At a certain point in time, McCarthy has to be assured enough that he can do something to gain a majority on the floor."

According to Collins, Republicans actually have to legislate and do what they were elected to do or else those who voted them in will be let down. 

"If they get this new House majority that they've now fought for and they cannot agree on legislation and get 218 votes, then all they're doing is making speeches, and the American people will see it and most of us will be very disappointed," Collins stated. 

"They gotta get up there and start being what they're called and that is legislators," Collins concluded. "That's what they gotta do."
