Lawyer and former Army Col. Eugene Vindman won the battle for the seat in Virginia's 7th congressional district held by Democrat Rep. Abigail Spanberger, who is now running for governor.

He defeated Republican Derrick Anderson with about 51% of the vote as of Wednesday evening.

Alexander Vindman, his twin brother, served as an aide on the National Security Council during the first Trump administration.

The brothers raised concerns about Trump’s 2019 call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Democratic-led House impeached Trump over the call but the Republican-led Senate acquitted him.
