The Dartmouth men's basketball team on Tuesday voted to unionize in a step toward forming the first-ever collegiate sports labor union.
The National Labor Relations Board from the school's Human Resources offices supervised the vote, which came down 13-2 in favor of joining the Service Employees International Union Local 560, per The Associated Press. The union already represents some Dartmouth employees.
The Ivy League university has five business days to file an objection and the school could bring the issue to federal court.
