President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday called the deadly terror attack in New Orleans "pure evil."

"Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department," Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. "The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil!"

He also made a statement about criminals coming into the U.S., but it's unclear how that might be related to the yet-to-be-named motorist who plowed into a crowd in New Orleans' French Quarter at about 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, killing at least 10 and injuring at least another 35.

"When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true," Trump also wrote. "The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before."

The FBI confirmed Wednesday that it was investigating the incident as a terrorist attack

President Joe Biden has spoken to the New Orleans mayor and has received briefings on what happened, according to CNN. The Department of Homeland Security is also helping with the investigation.

"Heartbreaking violence last night in New Orleans," Vice President-elect J.D. Vance wrote on X. "Such a beautiful and great American city. May God bless the victims and their families."
