President Trump's 2020 reelection campaign on Tuesday announced internal polling that shows a majority of likely voters approve of the president's handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Out of 800 likely voters in battleground states, nearly two-thirds (63 percent) approve of the way the president is dealing with the coronavirus situation, while about one-third (32 percent) disapprove, according to the poll.

An even higher percentage (89 percent) approved of Trump's decision to extend his administration's social distancing guidelines until the end of April.

And a sizable majority of 84 percent are watching at least some part of the president's daily White House coronavirus task force briefings.

"Americans want their president out front and leading the nation in a crisis and that’s exactly what President Trump is doing," Trump campaign manager Brad Pascale said.

However,  the president scored just 50 percent in overall job approval, the poll showed.

The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.46 percentage points.

On Sunday, the president's Twitter thread touted the high ratings earned by his daily coronavirus task force briefings with quotes plucked from a New York Times article.
