Lifelong Democrat Mark Gerard crossed parties to vote for Trump, going viral on X for “walking away”

Furthermore with Amanda Head Episode 8

On the eighth episode of the podcast, Amanda Head talks with Mark Gerard, a lifelong Democrat who left his party and voted for Donald Trump in Pennsylvania’s 2024 presidential primary. Going by the name of @ExDemMark on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Gerard went viral after professing to his followers that he would be voting Republican for the first time in a presidential primary. Mark’s post included his work on the campaigns of big name Democrats like John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama. Gerard even went on to highlight how he started the College Democrats Club when he was in school. But as of yesterday, Gerard cast his first ballot as a republican voter in a swing state, doing so for none other than the 45th president and current presumptive GOP nominee, Donald J. Trump. Listen to Mark and Amanda talk about how he didn’t “walk away” from the political party he’s belonged to since he could vote, rather how the Democrat Party left him behind and never looked back.
