An 80-year-old Illinois woman was saved from a life-threatening situation this week after she failed to send a mobile game score to her daughter, leading the daughter to call authorities to look for her.

Denyse Holt, of Lincolnwood, regularly sends her daughter her scores from “Wordle,” a wildly popular word game that exploded onto the mobile scene several months ago.

Holt’s daughter called police when she failed to receive her mother’s Wordle score. Police arrived at her home and found her being held hostage reportedly by a naked man armed with several knives.

"I didn't think I was going to live," Hoyt told media.

Hoyt was reportedly held in her basement for around 17 hours before being rescued by authorities.
