GOP Rep. Byron Donalds is reportedly telling potential donors he will indeed run for Florida governor in 2026.

Donalds, whose is expected to run next year, told attendees at a state Republican Party meeting this past weekend in Orlando that we was running, according to NBC News.

And a source told the news out that Donalds was recently in the state capital of Tallahassee "meeting with all the folks you need to meet with. He told them he is in."

Five or six candidates are in the running to replace GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis who cannot seek reelection because of term limits.

State Agriculture Commission Wilton Simpson and former Florida GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz are potential candidates.

"Florida needs a governor who can break the control insurance companies have over Tallahassee," Gaetz told NBC News. "I can do that."
