Popular singer and performer Beyoncé Knowles endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris at a rally in Houston, Texas, on Friday, but did not perform, contradicting earlier reporting.

It was reported earlier in the week by NBC News that Beyoncé was going to perform at Harris's rally. While she did endorse Harris, she did not perform, according to USA Today

Other celebrities who appeared at the Houston rally included Jessica Alba, Willie Nelson and Kelly Rowland.

"I'm not here as a celebrity," Beyoncé said at the rally. "I'm not here as a politician. I'm here as a mother, a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we're not divided."

Harris walked out to Beyoncé's song "Freedom," after the singer introduced her.

This was not the first time that it was reported in advance that Beyoncé would be performing at an event for Democratic politicians but ended up not doing so.

In August TMZ inaccurately reported that Beyoncé would appear and perform at the Democratic National Convention, but neither happened.
