Trump says he's 'all for' coronavirus masks, looks like Lone Ranger when wearing one

President Trump says he supports Americans wearing masks to stop the spread of the coronavirus but is steadfast about not making them mandatory across the country.

“I’m all for masks. I think masks are good,” Trump said Wednesday on the Fox Business Channel. 

Trump has declined to wear as mask on camera but has reportedly worn one when the media is not present, including a recent trip to a Ford Motor plant in Michigan. 

He has been under increasing pressure from leaders of his Republican Party to wear one, or at least show his support for wearing one, amid a spike in coronavirus cases in the South and southwest.

Vice President Mike Pence has recently started wearing a mask, amid the partisan divided across the country about wearing one. 

"If I were in a tight situation with people I would, absolutely” wear one, Trump told Fox.

However, the president said he didn’t think masks should be mandatory nationwide because there are "many places in the country where people stay very long distance."

Trump said he "sort of liked" how he looked wearing a mask, likening himself the fictional cowboy crime-fighter the Lone Ranger.
