When President Trump raised a Bible overhead on Monday evening outside St John’s Episcopal church in Washington D.C. amid violent protests, the display caused immediate consternation among some, including Protestant and Catholic leaders, who saw it as him co-opting a religious symbol for political purposes.
But in past conversations with The Pod's Honest Truth's host David Brody, the president has said that he has reverence, even fear of the bible.
"There is no way I would ever do anything to do negative to a Bible," he said. "I would have a fear of doing something other than very positive."
